The sign Leo is ruled by the life-giving Sun, and it is called the royal sign of the Zodiac; therefore it confers upon the children which are born under its influence a noble, ambitious and aspiring nature. They are of the Master breed and make good leaders but poor followers.
Being of a noble and lofty character themselves they scorn mean and sordid things nor will they stoop to do a low act even under great provocation or the strong urge of self-interest. The love nature is very strong and ardent. No inconvenience or sacrifice is too great to serve those they love.
They are loyal and true friends through thick and thin. Leo is a fixed sign and gives its childrenconsiderable will power, so that they are usually able to win their way to the top despite all handicaps and obstacles. They are very fixed in their opinions and if they espouse any cause they will usually stay by it and work for it in a most enthusiastic manner.
They never do anything half-heartedly, for Leo being a fiery sign endows them with power, vitality and enthusiasm. Leo also gives it children a good memory. The foregoing tendencies are indicated when the Sun is fairly well aspected in the horoscope; but if it is afflicted by Mars, or any of the malefics, the nature is changed, so that the person becomes bombastic, blustering and domineering, one not to be trusted in any department of life, and an unfaithful, amorous husband or wife, or a disloyal friend, one who will not hesitate to stoop to any meanness.
He is then just as bad as the Leo with the well aspected Sun is good, this on the principle that the brightest light always casts the deepest shadow. The principal fault of the Leos is a quick temper, but they do not hold spite, and when shown to have been wrong they are always ready to apologize and make amends. They are magnanimous, even to their bitterest enemies.

Leo is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Leo. Under the tropical zodiac, Leo is occupied by the Sun from July 23 to August 22, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from August 17 to September 16. The opposite sign to Leo is Aquarius.[1] Leos, like lions, are thought to be strong leaders. They are thought to generally have a regal quality to them, and possess a noble manner that is hard to miss.
The glyph for Leo represents the mane of the lion.[2]
Leo is the fifth sign of the Zodiac and is associated with the keywords magnanimous, generous, hospitable, caring, warm, authoritative, active and open.[2]
Leos are typically pictured as very dignified and regal. They are hard-working, ambitious and enthusiastic,[2] however they are prone to laziness and can often take "the easy way out."[3]
They are known to be exuberant, extroverted, generous with a natural dramatic flair and very creative.[4]They are typically very self-assured, and love taking center-stage in whatever arena they are in.[1]
Fiery determination and the desire to be important often rule their life.[2] They usually pursue their goals doggedly and use their charisma to sway others to their cause. Open and honest, tend towards the philosophical and tend to hold great idealisms about how things should be.[1]
Under a Fixed sign, Leos are usually determined, stubborn, loyal and traditional. They are often resistant to imposed changes, and tend to hold onto people and situations for a long time.[3][2]
Leos, like the Lion they are named after, are thought to be born leaders, with charisma, enthusiasm and determination.[5] They do well under pressure and are good at defusing crisis situations.[1]
They are often lovers of the finer things in life. They are associated with gold, jewelry, fashion, luxury items and adornment.[1] Because of their creative nature, they tend to not stick with the boring and mundane, and look for excitement in life.[4]
The downside to a Leo is usually their pride.[6] Due to this, they are sometimes prone to being conceited, jealous, snobbish, boastful, overbearing with a disdain for those under them.[1]
Due to their positive nature, they are typically very gullible and tend to believe the best will happen. When it doesn't, they are prone to depression, may react nastily to affronts and could be deeply hurt by malice and hostility.
Typical Leos truly enjoy the game of romance. Their avoidance of the mundane may prone the Lion to a "wandering eye"[4] and their love of beauty can drive their movements from one lover to another.[5] They are typically very sexual creatures and highly attracted to the partners of their choosing.[1] However, some Leos are only loyal to themselves[4] or only to the extent that the relationship benefits them[1]
Actors born under the sign of the lion are seen as polished performers who love the limelight. Leos often enjoy working with children, and many become teachers whose students serve as their captive audience. There is often a talent for investing, finance, and money management that can lead to success in banking, the stock market, or big business.[1]
Leos also tend to have a fondness for competition, dance, gambling, risky endeavors, parks, recreational activities, nature, the outdoors, and work with animals. Leo's ruler, the Sun, is the giver of life, and some born under this sign gravitate toward the healing and helping professions as physicians, dental hygienists, counselors, psychiatrists, cardiologists, politicians and in public relations.[1]
Arts and crafts, theatre groups, philanthropic societies and religious organizations often attract their interest and participation.[3]
In mythology Leo is often associated with the Greek myth of the Nemean Lion which was killed by Heracles during one of his twelve labours, and subsequently put into the sky, as well as the mythological figure of Penelope, from the Greek myth of the Trojan War. Leo is also associated with the Greco-Roman god Apollo and sometimes also the gods Helios/Sol, Ra, and Huitzilopochtli and the goddess Sunna.[1]
Physiologically, Leo governs the upper back, forearms, wrist, spine and heart. Its natives are usually thought to be subject to a number of ailments: pain in the back and lungs, spinal complaints, diseases of the heart and blood, sickness in ribs and sides, convulsions, pleasantries, violent burning fevers including, in former days, when they were prevalent, plague, pestilence, jaundice, and some afflictions of the eyes.[1]
Leo rules the back and heart, so people with Leo active in their charts are associated with over-exertion, general problems with stress in the back and ailments of the heart. They are usually believed to have a strong constitution and may usually be seen to overcome their problems, many of which may be of their own making, due to overindulgence.[3]

A great future is in store for this offspring of the celestial virgin. Listen to the wonderful prophecy of Isaiah: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders and his name shall be called WONDERFUL, COUNSELOR, the MIGHTY GOD, the EVERLASTING FATHER, the PRICE OF PEACE. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end."
Humanity is to rise to a wonderful spiritual height and this is symbolized by the Sun's precessional passage through the royal sign Leo, pictorially represented by the king of beasts, the lion. this is an apt allusion to the King of Creation, who will then embody the three great virtues of the Master Man, Strength, Wisdom and Beauty.
It is wonderful to trace the various phases of the religions given to the Great Aryo-Semitic Race from the time they were "called out" in the latter third of the Atlantean Epoch, to the end of the Aquarian Age, when a new race will have been definitely born. This aspect of the Zodiac will form the subject of the following pages. It will shed light on many of the most obscure passages of the Bible, as only study of this Cosmic Science can.
When we consider the Zodiac in its religious as well as its evolutionary aspects, by means of the six pair of opposite signs into which the twelve may be divided, we also commence with Cancer and Capricorn, for the reason given in the previous article, namely: that these are the solstitial points where the Sun reaches its highest and lowest declination.
Considered in this manner, we find that there are two sets of three pairs of signs, the first being Cancer and Capricorn, Gemini and Sagittarius, Taurus and Scorpio. In these pairs of signs we may read the history of human evolution and religion, in the early, the middle and the latter third of the Atlantean Epoch. This is also divisible into three distinct periods, namely: THE ARYAN AGE, from Moses to Christ, which comes under Aries-Libra; the PISCEAN AGE, which takes in the last two thousand years under Pisces-Virgo Catholicism; and the two thousand years which are ahead of us, called the AQUARIAN AGE, where the signs Aquarius and Leo will be illuminated and vivified by the solar precession, for the upliftment of the Son of Man (Aquarius), by the Christ within, the Lion of Judah (Leo), to the estate of Superman.
It must not be thought, however, that the Atlantean Epoch only lasted while the Sun by precession went through Cancer, Gemini, and Taurus, a period of only six thousand and a few hundred years; far from it; but there are spirals within spirals and recapitulation takes place in the epochs and races, so that we may know what is the general destiny by looking at the Sun's passage through these signs and therewith taking this import and symbolism into consideration. It may also be said that the further we advance the smaller do the spirals become, the shorter the time in which a given improvement is made, because of the proficiency we attained in former ages, and therefore it is extremely probable that this present is the last lap, that the coming Aquarian Age is the final preparatory school day which will fit us for the new age, the Sixth Epoch, and that this will begin when the Sun by precession enters Capricorn.
This, of course, would mean that the Second Advent must take place just before that time, and though it seems to us that so many signs point that way, still it is a mere surmise and may not have any truth in it at all. Thousands of people have been misled during all the ages that we know of, to think that Christ would soon be here; it is, however, better that we are looking forward to it than if we should say with some, that it will never take place. In that case the Great Day would find us unprepared and we should find ourselves among the stragglers who are unfit to attend the wedding feast of the Higher Self to the lower because lacking the "soul-body," the "wedding garment," necessary to enfold them.
